Anyone unfamiliar with the Chapman Stick - lots of strings and the devil to play - is in for a treat, especially hearing if they are hearing it first the hands of Ron Baggerman. The Dutchman's music is hard to pin down because it's from everywhere - as if the Stick has wandered the worlds, picking up an African rhythm here, a Latin flavor there, a rock groove somewhere else. It's all summed up in the title of Baggerman's new album, Galaxy Gypsy.
